You can’t know everything. Not even close. But all the little things you don’t know might really improve your life if you did!
I try not to ever feel safe in my bubble of knowledge. It’s easy to forget that there’s so much you don’t know, and easy to get comfortable thinking that what you do know represents the lion’s share of what’s worth knowing. But that attitude, while comfortable, leads to a much worse life overall.
My main method of trying to stay out of that safe bubble is to have as many conversations with people as I can. You only know a little, but everyone knows a slightly different little. Their little tidbits might improve your life in so many ways. So I strike up conversations and try to encourage them to tell me anything they know.
Active listening is a superpower. I try to practice it as often as I can, because when you express genuine curiosity at people, they’ll tell you all sorts of interesting stuff.
My bubble widens, my life improves.
